Pirate’s Quest has recently launched Introductory Guides for overseas buccaneers – which are proving a swashbucklin’ success early in the season.
Having experienced an increase in overseas visitors the Pirate Crew have produced introductory notes about the tour in German, French & Dutch. Although the live Pirate led tours are in English the introduction notes help to give the background for the tour and details on each area.
Pirate’s Quest worked with Anja Jones Translation services, a boutique agency based in Newquay helped to develop the information sheets. Anja then came to visit the attraction and see the project in action.
Anja Jones says: “Working on the Pirate’s Quest tour sheets was an interesting project – we enjoyed translating the wealth of interesting facts and historical information that would appeal to an overseas audience.
“We try to have a creative hour with the team on a regular basis so we were thrilled to be invited on a tour to see our work in action. It was fantastic!”
As part of the commitment from the Pirate team to developing overseas business, Alice Furness – Marketing Co-ordinator – also attended Welcome to Cornwall International Workshop with Newquay for Excellence training to help develop front of house staff awareness of how to provide a warmer welcome to everyone visiting.
Nikki Smith, Managing Director says: “We were really surprised last year by the numbers of independent European visitors – who thoroughly enjoyed the tour – and visited to find out more about Cornish myths, legends and piratical heritage. We also attract large numbers of language school students too so this seemed like an excellent investment for 2016.”
Cornwall benefits from overseas tourism and has seen a rise in European visitors year on year.
Malcolm Bell, Chief Executive Visit Cornwall says: “Cornwall is a popular destination for UK and overseas visitors alike. In the last year we have seen an increase in overseas visitor traffic and it is wonderful to see Visitor Attractions, like Pirate’s Quest in Newquay providing our foreign visitors with language information sheets to make their stay more interesting and colourful.”
Pirate’s Quest Newquay, has a brand new storyline for 2016. Visitors will be transported back over 300 years to 1706; the dawn of the Republic of Pirates. The hour long interactive experience, led by a live Pirate, will allow you and your crewmates to feel, hear, smell and see intriguing legends and exciting history.
